Waterside Place Wins Gold in Best in American Living Awards for Mixed-Use Community

Waterside Place has been awarded the gold medal in the mixed-use community category of the Best in American Living Awards by the National Association of Home Builders.

The BALA Awards are recognized as the premier residential design awards program in the building industry.

Waterside Place: A Next-Generation Community

The judges were impressed by Waterside Place’s innovative design, which creates a vibrant and walkable community hub for residents. The 36-acre development offers a mix of retail stores, restaurants, entertainment options, and services, all conveniently located within walking distance of a variety of rental and for-sale neighborhoods.

“The inspiration for Waterside Place was really to move into a next generation of community building in which people would want to live within distance to the town center,” explains a spokesperson for Waterside Place. “Not only would the town center provide neighborhood services, but it would also serve as an entertainment hub.”

Unique Design Elements

Waterside Place is lauded for its unique design elements that go beyond just functionality. Agave Bandido owner Mathew Baum is quoted as saying, “There was no shock for me because it’s one of the coolest communities that I’ve ever seen planned. Having the water connecting all the different neighborhoods to the retail via water taxi…If you look out here, even the trash cans have mahogany wood around them. It’s a very unique place. I really haven’t seen anything like it.”

A Vibrant Town Center

The Waterside Place town center offers a variety of amenities for residents, including a farmers market, Ranch Nite Wednesdays, monthly movies in the park, and more. The judges described it as “a great Main Street-type setting that emulates a beach/condo style development.”

“So much work went into this and we just find that it’s a very loved place among our residents,” says a spokesperson for Waterside Place. “So, to some degree it’s a validation of what we did and also a thank you to the people who are coming here every day and making this real.”
